AOΠ Philanthropy

Alpha Omicron Pi’s International Philanthropy supports Arthritis, Juvenile Arthritis and related diseases.

Since 1967 when we adopted the Arthritis Foundation, over one million dollars has been raised by AOIIs to help researchers find a cure for this crippling disease that, so often, targets women as its victims.

As a chapter we do a few different fundraisers for our philanthropy:

Stick'em Up for Arthritis - This our main philanthropy event that is held in the Spring. With this event we try to get the whole campus involved. We have girls walking around campus with squirt guns, squirting people wearing Greek letters and asking for their spare change. Essentially, getting them to "stick'em up." We also have sisters, wearing special yellow shirts, that can be squirted by students, with guns that we sell, for raffle tickets.

Trick-or-Treat for Arthritis - We go door to door in local neighborhoods asking for spare change. This event is always popular with the locals who come to expect to see us every Halloween.

Spaghetti Dinner - This is the night that our house is transformed into our own Little Italy. We decorate the house with white lights, tents and tablecloths. Students, teachers, and locals come to the house and enjoy a wonderful spaghetti dinner.

Arthritis Walk in Savannah - The Arthritis Foundation has a walk, to benefit arthritis research, in Savannah every year. Since this is closest walk to our chapter, we participate in it every year. Our alumni chapter from Savannah join us. This is not only a time to hang out with sisters, but a time to bond with our alumni.
